LPi Printing Partners and Employees Step Up to Meet a Challenge.
As reports of Hurricane Sandy began to come in, employees in our Cromwell, CT, facility coordinated an emergency response. To get ahead of the storm, a notice was sent out asking print customers to transmit publications early. Special thanks to the 160+ customers who did, resulting in all of those publications being printed and shipped early, before Sandy made landfall.
By Monday, our response became a nationwide effort: our state-of-the-art pre-press software, LPi Express, enabled us to transfer the printing of more than 50 publications from Cromwell to Cleveland and Milwaukee, while EBS staff had calls forwarded so they could help customers from the safety of their homes.
A printed bulletin is no good if it doesn’t make it to the church, though. Sales, marketing, and office staff immediately began coordinating and volunteering throughout the region to personally deliver bulletins in their local areas where courier service was shut down.
As we all prepare for Thanksgiving, we would like to say thank you again to the staff and customers who worked together so tremendously during a very difficult time; LPi continues to stand ready to ensure you receive your publication on time, every time. Happy Thanksgiving!
Come and Visit Us on Thursday, December 6.
We were very disappointed that we had to cancel our open house in Hartford because of the hurricane. And, apparently, so were you.
We have heard from a number of customers who still want to come so we have rescheduled the open house for Thursday, December 6 from 10:00 AM–3:00 PM in our Cromwell location. Visit www.4LPi.com/OpenHouse for details and to RSVP.
We can't wait to meet you!
Early Transmittal Dates for Holidays.
With the onset of winter weather and approaching holiday closings, LPi would like to remind you to transmit your publications early whenever possible. While it may be sunny out your window, weather in other parts of your region can have a detrimental effect on couriers. And please be sure to consult your Resource Calendar for early transmittal dates due to holidays.
If you haven’t yet received your 2013 Resource Calendar, please contact your local office (found in the right column of this e-mail). The Resource Calendars for Central, Eastern, and Mideast Regions are also available for download from Art & Media Portal.
New special covers are now available on Art & Media Portal:
- New Year’s Day,
- World Day of Peace,
- Epiphany/Reyes Magos,
- National Vocation Awareness Week,
- the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity,
- Catholic Schools Week and Lutheran Schools Week.
We also have a special cover honoring Wisconsin native and Cardinal-designate James Michael Harvey, who will be made a cardinal on November 24.
Medicare and Social Security Resources.
In addition to our monthly articles from the Social Security Administration, we have added a new feature, a monthly question-and-answer on Medicare topics from the National Council on Aging (NCOA). A team of experts answers pertinent questions, as well as giving resources to learn more. The Q and A's will show up in the Sunday Search or you can search for keywords "NCOA" or "Medicare."

Giving Thanks for 40 Years.
As Thanksgiving approaches, LPi continues to be grateful for wonderful customer relationships we’ve developed over the last 40 years. And this month’s story takes customer relationship to a whole new level!
“I have history with LPi, as I used to work there. In 1992 I was a typesetter on 2nd shift, until 1994. It was a great job, with literally a typeset department; proof department; clip art (where they literally cut and taped art into the layout); paste up department. I established some good friends, many whom I still am in contact with today! I was a Mom to young kids, and working 6 PM until the work was finished 3 days a week was perfect for my life. The company was family friendly and it served my family well...I left LPi, only to be hired by a parish, St. John Neumann in Waukesha, where I am the parish secretary and... wait for it... the BULLETIN editor. I have never had a disappointing moment as a customer of LPi, whether I need tech support, or to report that my bulletin is going to be late, or to speak with our account rep. Most importantly, I love the fact that when I call LPi, I don’t get a recording and thrown into a loop of press 1 if you don’t want to hold forever... I love hearing Gunilla, the friendly voice of LPi.”
St. John Neumann
Thank you, Janet, for sharing your kind words and some of the history of our 40 years of connecting communities! As a sign of our appreciation, you’ll receive a $100 gift card; and Gunilla will receive the same, for representing LPi’s commitment to superior customer service.
During the Year of Faith, Catholics around the world join in seeking a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, who said that what we do for the least of his brothers and sisters, we do for him.
