A No-Stress Church Event Marketing Checklist for Catholic Parishes

A piece of paper with a parish event marketing checklist on it.

When you’ve got a big church event coming up, the last thing you want is for it to fly under the radar. Your parish mission is important, so getting the word out matters! That’s why we’ve put together a simple go-to checklist to help you market your next church event (in both print and digital) with confidence and zero guesswork. Let’s make sure your message reaches the people who need to hear it.

Use This Checklist When Marketing Your Parish Event

  1. Create a landing page on your website that includes all of the event’s additional information, which your other advertising channels can point to via a link or QRcode. This landing page should also include any registration information or forms required for the event.
  2. Create a flyer/bulletin insert — tips on how to take your flyer game to the next level are here and here !
  3. Create a poster — this could be the same as your flyer/bulletin insert, just printed larger.
  4. Create an email invite.
  5. Create a mailer for snail-mail — there is an easy way to do this through the USPS here .
  6. Create social media posts about it — don’t forget to use the stories feature on Instagram and Facebook. We have a article that can help you get started with the stories tool.
  7. Send out a text reminder to interested parishioners.
  8. Announce it from the pulpit before or after Mass.
  9. Create a banner or lawn signs for the front of your parish property. Even better — if you have a sign company advertising in your parish bulletin, use them!

Don't Forget the Details WHen Marketing Your Church Event

Details are important but remember, you don’t want to overload your flyers and ads with TOO many details — otherwise things get jumbled and lost in the mix. Just make sure the following items are included in your advertisements. More specific details can then be placed on the event’s landing page on your church website.

In your ads, always include your church event's:

  • Name or title of the event
  • Location
  • Time
  • How to register (if applicable)
  • Contact information
  • Who is specifically invited
  • Accessibility information for those with varying needs. For example, will there be a sign language interpreter? Will accommodations be available for people with disabilities? Will childcare be available? Consider what other resources people may need.
  • Link to the event’s online landing page with extended information.

In the Beatitudes, Jesus utilizes a literary device called anaphora. As a reader and a writer, I love anaphora. It’s a clean, unfussy way to communicate a point.
